An overweight bride-to-be surprised everyone when she turned up on her big day 110-lb. lighter.

Haley Smith, 24, told People Magazine that she could barely stand looking at her engagement photos on one of the most special days of her life that she shares with her now husband, Matt, because she was so fat.

“I cried because this was one of the happiest moments of my life, but I was just so ashamed. I didn’t understand how Matt could want to be with someone like me. After seeing those, I knew I needed to change,” she said.

The psychology grad decided to try tackling the weight loss by making small changes in her life, starting with not eating meals after 8 p.m., to working up to running more miles each week.

“I had tried drastic diets or workouts in the past and always failed after a matter of weeks,” said Smith. “With the small changes, I would just pick two habits and after about a week or two of sticking to it, I’d pick two more.”

The small changes led to huge weight loss results as Smith lost about 110-pounds by her wedding day. Now she documents her fitness journey on Instagram to help others stay motivated too and keep her progress going.

“It's a weird feeling, but I'm proud of how far I've come,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “ I'm not at goal weight or goal size, but I'm going to keep pushing! Don't quit just because you are starting to feel comfortable with your body! Keep pushing, there's always room for improvement and always new goals to crush.”
