Beer cocktail recipe: Jameson Caskmates IPA Fizz
Jameson Caskmates IPA Fizz. (Handout)
To some beer drinkers, adding any ingredient to a perfectly poured pint would be sacrilegious.
While beer cocktails are not a new concept (think boilermaker, black velvet, and black and tan), Jameson brand ambassador Conor Timmons can’t help but admit he’s stumbled upon a prickly issue when he suggests making a beer cocktail made with whisky and banana liqueur.
“Maybe my Irish friends, if they’re hearing this, will be like, ‘Is this guy insane?’ But I urge people to try it,” says Timmons.
“Whisky and beer pair together like ham and cheese or like peanut butter and jelly," he adds. "They definitely complement each other when you drink them side by side. Mixing them together does the exact same thing."
But banana liqueur?
“The banana liqueur complements the creaminess of the (Jameson) Caskmates,” explains Timmons. “You could add simple syrup or other flavoured syrups, but I find that banana liqueur has a nice aftertaste to it.”
