Texas teacher accused of lesbian romps with pupil
Teacher-student impropriety has become an epidemic in Texas.
Yet another instructor in the Lone Star State has been charged with having an improper relationship with a student.
Kendall Lucas, 25, a softball coach and business education teacher at Taylor High School, is accused of orchestrating multiple lesbian romps with a 17-year-old pupil.
The alleged victim informed investigators late last week that she had approximately 10 sexual encounters with Lucas last spring, KXAN reported.
Authorities were alerted to the alleged relationship after two softball players caught wind of the secret and blew the whistle on Lucas, who faces possible prison time.
In a letter to Taylor High parents, principle Andrew Maddox said he was disturbed by the latest shocking allegation against a Texas teacher.
“We are all obviously shocked and dismayed by this allegation and will be working to support all of our students,” he wrote in a letter obtained by KXAN.
The school district confirmed Lucas has been placed on administrative leave.
She faces up to 20 years behind bars if convicted.
News of more teacher-student impropriety arrives just days after the Austin American-Statesman found that nearly 700 Texas teachers have had their teaching licenses yanked since 2010 due to allegations of impropriety with students.
Last week, Katerhine Ruth Harper, a cheerleading coach at Tidwell Middle School near Dallas, exchanged her pom poms for handcuffs after being accused of having multiple romp sessions with a male student. The 27-year-old was charged with orchestrating the improper relationship, which allegedly included the exchange of naked text messages with the teen.
Additionally, cops arrested Rebecca Goerdel, 28, last week on suspicion she entered into an improper relationship with a student at the Young Men’s Leadership Academy at Kennedy Middle School in Grand Prairie.
Lockart (Tex.) cops arrested Sarah Fowlkes, 27, late last month after a high school student alleged the biology teacher fondled him.
And in February, Haeli Wey, a former math teacher at Austin’s Westlake High School, pleaded guilty to two counts of having improper relationships with a pair of 17-year-old students.
