The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is trying to figure out who would kill 62-year-old Clarence John Crothers.

Crothers’ body was found by Abbotsford police Tuesday morning inside an apartment in the 33000-block of Braun Avenue.

IHIT isn’t saying how Crothers died, only that his injuries were “consistent with homicide.”

“It remains early in the investigation, and police are working tirelessly to determine the motive for this tragic death,” said IHIT spokeswoman Cpl. Meghan Foster.

“Mr. Crothers was not known to police, and a priority of our investigation is to speak with anyone who knew him.”

Foster said the risk to the public, if any, is unknown.

IHIT is working with Abbotsford police and the B.C. Coroners Service to establish what events led to the homicide.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448), or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
