Update: Vancouver police investigate double murder in West End

A "person of interest" is in custody following a double murder in Vancouver's West End on Sunday.

Vancouver police were called to an apartment at 1835 Morton Avenue, near English Bay beach, at 5 p.m. and discovered the bodies of a 57-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man, both residents of Vancouver.

Investigators arrested a person of interest.

"Based on the information collected so far, there is no indication that the public is at risk," the VPD said in a release.

All parties are known to each other.

No names have been released.

Police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity around the apartment building, from Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening, to contact VPD homicide at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
