Vancouver police have arrested a man wanted in a string of bank robberies stretching from Calgary to North Vancouver.
The 25-year-old was arrested in Vancouver on June 30 following an investigation involving police departments in Vancouver, Calgary, West Vancouver, Abbotsford, New Westminster and RCMP in North Vancouver and Burnaby.
The arrest was in connection with nine robberies including a June 28 bank robbery at Lynn Valley Mall in which a man pulled a handgun and robbed the teller of an undisclosed amount of money.
North Vancouver RCMP say Mikael Macek, who has no fixed address, was arrested in Vancouver as he was about to board a bus to Alberta. He remains in custody awaiting a July 14 court appearance.
Investigators will be submitting a report to Crown counsel for consideration of charges with respect to nine bank robberies.
