An expanded Control Centre, a better storage management system and the ability to record your iPhone screen are some of the new features included with the iOS 11 upgrade.
You don't need the new iPhone 8 or iPhone X to take advantage of all the bells and whistles included with Apple's mobile operating system.
Expanded Control Centre
The iPhone Control Centre has been redesigned in iOS 11 to allowing for customized controls.
You can choose from as many as 17 different functions — from accessibility shortcuts to Wallet — to add to your Control Centre setup, giving you easy access (just swipe up) to some vital iPhone functions.
With a just touch of a button (you can add it to your Control Centre), you can now record everything that happens on your screen.
Unfortunately, it doesn't record audio as well.
And, yes, if you record a Snapchat video with this feature it does notify your Snapchat friend that you've taken a screenshot. So much for stealth.

Let there be less (or more) light
Thanks to the new Control Centre and Force Touch, your flashlight app just got a lot more functional. Using Force Touch on flashlight will bring up a slider that lets you control the intensity of the light.
Dump big files
Under General in Settings, you will find an iPhone Storage option that will allow you review — and delete — large attachments (photos, videos, gifs) hidden inside Messages.
Changes to screenshots
The way iPhone handles screenshots has changed with iOS 11. Pressing home and power will still produce a screen capture but the image will no longer be saved straight into your photo folder. Instead, you now have access to preview image that pops up in the lower left allowing you to edit, save or delete the screenshot.

More augmented reality
Thanks to Apple's ARKit, which allows developers to implement improved augmented reality experiences into their apps, there a lot more AR apps to choose from than just Pokemon Go. And some of them have actual practical applications — like IKEA Place. The app from everybody's favourite Swedish discount furniture retailer allows you to place virtual furniture in your home to see how it will fit and look.
Tap the sleep/power button five times to bring up the Emergency Mode screen. Your phone goes into lockdown mode and lets you contact 911 and access your medical information (if it's updated).
Do not disturb while driving
The Do Not Disturb While Driving feature is Apple's way of combating distracted driving. When in automatic mode, iPhone will detect motion and silence all notifications.
