The Force is strong with this one.

The latest trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi debuted during Monday Night Football, a day after Rian Johnson, the director of the ninth instalment in the Star Wars Saga, warned: “I am legitimately torn. If you want to come in clean, absolutely avoid it. But it’s gooooood.....”

The two-minute clip hints at an alliance between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

The new spot also gives fans fresh looks at General Leia (the late Carrie Fisher), an adorable Porg, Chewbacca, Supreme Leader Snoke, the Millennium Falcon, John Boyega (whose Finn battles Captain Phasma), Oscar Isaac and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), who issues an ominous warning: “I’ve seen this raw strength only once before. It didn’t scare me enough then. It does now.”

In the clip, Fisher, who reprised her role as Leia in 2015’s The Force Awakens, flashes across the screen as a voice-over from her on-screen son, Kylo Ren, issues a dire threat.

“Let the past die,” Kylo says. “Kill it, if you have to.”

At Star Wars Celebration earlier this year, Hamill promised fans they will be touched by Fisher’s last appearance as Leia (the character will not return for Star Wars: Episode IX).

“Wait until you see her in The Last Jedi,” Hamill said. “You’re going to love her.”

The Last Jedi picks up after 2015's The Force Awakens, which was directed by J.J. Abrams. It’s set to hit theatres Dec. 15.

Star Wars: Episode IX opens Dec. 20, 2019.
