Network moms

By HOSEA CHEUNG, 24 HOURS

For mothers looking to begin their own business, there's help.

The Enterprising Moms Network - which was launched in September - offers entrepreneur mothers a place to connect with others in the same shoes.

"We provide monthly support to ensure their success for their business," said Kelley Scarsbrook, the president and founder of the White Rock-based EMN.

"It's important to mothers because it caters specifically to moms and we face many more challenges than a normal entrepreneur would face."

Each monthly meeting includes a guest speaker along with group discussions, allowing mothers to expand their network route.

Scarsbrook said that members will learn something new each time they come out.

"No mom ever leaves without knowing that the wheels are in motion," she said. "We all have to juggle our work life and take care of the family. We all share a bond."

Upcoming events include the opening of the new Richmond chapter on May 22 at the Best Western Abercorn Inn. Also, the second annual Enterprising Mom's Business Summit will take place on June 8 at the Vancouver Four Seasons Hotel.
