In an effort to ease the Black Friday rush, Walmart locations in the U.S. will cut prices on popular gifts by up to 60% starting this weekend, the retailer announced Tuesday.
Walmart will introduce savings resembling the day-after-Thanksgiving ("Black Friday") prices on select toys and entertainment one week early, starting Nov. 21.
"Shoppers who want to get a jump start this weekend can find values in entertainment they would expect to see after Thanksgiving Day,” said Gary Severson, senior vice president of entertainment, Walmart U.S.
The blitz sale south of the border is expected to last through to Nov. 27.
Walmart Canada was not immediately available to comment on whether locations in this country would follow suit.
