Videotron Ltd. said it will create more than 600 permanent full-time jobs this year as the company expands its reach into the Canadian wireless market.
Openings will be concentrated in the company’s engineering, customer service, technical support, network construction and maintenance, sales and IT divisions.
“For more than six years, Videotron has been posting sustained business growth, which has translated into hundreds of new jobs per year,” President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Dépatie said in a statement.
The Quebec-based cable, Internet and phone provider announced the building of its cutting-edge wireless network in October 2008 and estimated the project would result in 1,000 new jobs by the end of 2010.
Combined with the 600 jobs created last year, Wednesday’s announcement brings that projection upwards of 1,200.
“We are very proud of the contribution we are making to Quebec’s economic development by investing in the local labour force,” Dépatie said.
Videotron, a subsidiary of Quebecor Media Inc., currently has more than 70 openings posted on its and Jobboom websites. Quebecor owns Canoe Money.
