Real fun, Harleys and Housewives 0
Sisterly love was in full effect at Harley Davidson's Precious Metal event last Thursday.
The (mostly) all-women fundraiser was supporting Rethink Breast Cancer - a hip Canadian charity that focuses on pioneering breast cancer education for the under-40 set.
Sure, there wasn't a lot of flirting opportunities for all the single ladies in the house, but make no mistake - this wasn't one of those obligatory hen parties where you drop by, make an appearance and then sneak out after one glass of wine. Many partygoers were not in a rush to go anywhere - they were catching up with old friends, networking with new contacts and taking advantage of the different pampering stations (foot massages, makeovers and lash extensions to name a few).
Plus, Urban Rush host Fiona Forbes and The Beat's Nira Arora, who were MCing the event, seemed to have an endless supply of prizes to give away. Then there were all the good eats - courtesy of guest chef Roaming Dragon's Tina Fineza. In short, if this estrogen-filled extravaganza becomes an annual event, I highly recommend checking it out next year - too much fun.
Thai One On
If you were a fan of the weekly Get CHARMED DJ night at the now-defunct CHARM Modern Thai house, its sister restaurant Pink Elephant Thai may be picking up where it left off. Last Friday, DJ Jeremy 'NoLuv' Slattery played to a packed house. The VIP guest list included Reiko MacKenzie from The Real Housewives of Vancouver and Breakfast Television's Riaz Meghji. I'm guessing this is going to become a regular event. If bumpin' beats, celebrity sightings and finger-licking spring rolls are your idea of a good time, keep your eyes peeled for the next Get PINKED party.
Beauty Night Society
LuvnGrace presented another successful fashion and life art fundraising event for Beauty Night Society, a local organization that gives life-changing makeovers to women living in poverty. At Strut Studios, and with pianist Raymond Chow tickling the ivories ever so softly in the background, it was an elegant, yet modest, affair. Ronnie Seterdahl Negus (of Housewives fame) was scheduled to appear, but for personal reasons, had to bail at the last minute. But the show must go on ... and it did.
