'Better Off Ted' back for another season
By JIM SLOTEK, SUN MEDIA
Jay Harrington had little shoes to fill when he agreed to play the lead character in Better Off Ted. “What first came to mind was Frankie Muniz in Malcolm in the Middle, speaking directly to the camera — but that worked because he was a cute little kid,” Harrington said. “So I thought (Better Off Ted) either is going to be really terrible or really great.” Many critics have leaned toward the “great” appraisal of Better Off Ted, a largely unnoticed satirical office comedy that begins its second season Tuesday, Dec. 8 on ABC. Of course, sometimes critical support can be the kiss of death. “That’s true, but I’ve been on terrible stuff, so I have perspective,” Harrington said. “People who did watch our first season were so supportive.” Better Off Ted also stars Portia de Rossi, Andrea Anders, Jonathan Slavin and Malcolm Barrett. |
