Conan O'Brien is coming to Canada.
O'Brien announced on his Twitter account Thursday that he's going on the
road.
"Hey Internet, I'm headed to your town on a half-assed comedy & music tour,"
he tweeted. "I repeat: It's half-assed."
He provided a link to his TeamCoco.com website, which listed a 30-city tour,
billed as the Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour.
“It was either a massive 30-city tour, or start helping out around the
house” O’Brien said in a statement. He will be joined on the tour by
longtime sidekick Andy Richter and the former Tonight Show band.
He'll be starting in Eugene, OR., on April 12 and will wrap it up on June 14
in Atlanta, GA. During his tour, he'll stop in Vancouver on April 13 and 14
for his second show of the tour, Enoch, Alta., on April 17, and Toronto on
May 22.
The website says fans can expect "a night of music, comedy, hugging and the
occasional awkward silence."
O'Brien tweeted later on Thursday that a second show was added for Vancouver
fans, but "Bad news: Still no show in Guam." He also directed people
directly to Ticketmaster after his TeamCoco website became jammed with too
much traffic.
O'Brien, who fans know from The Late Show with Conan O'Brien and his very
brief stint on The Tonight Show, is currently on a break until at least the
fall.
O'Brien had a very public break-up with NBC after the network tried to bump
The Tonight Show back to midnight in order to accommodate a new show with
Jay Leno.
When O'Brien refused to move, the network gave The Tonight Show back to Leno
and O'Brien and NBC parted ways.
The settlement with the network included the deal that O'Brien couldn't host
a TV show until the fall.
His last appearance on The Tonight Show garnered more than 7 million viewers
in the U.S.
He began twittering Feb. 24 and told his followers, "Today I interviewed a
squirrel in my backyard and then threw to commercial. Somebody help me."
He has more than 627,000 followers.
He's said he has also been keeping busy by taking his family on vacation and
growing a beard.
O'Brien recently twittered about a Michigan girl named Sarah Killen and was
then asked by Killen and her fiance to be their best man. He hasn't
responded yet.
