Actor Martin Short has accepted presenter Kathie Lee Gifford’s apology after she quizzed him about his marriage to his late wife during a live U.S. TV interview on Wednesday.
The funnyman was a guest on breakfast show Today when host Gifford began probing his personal life and praising Short's long marriage to tragic Nancy Dolman, clearly unaware she had died two years ago.
Short handled the uncomfortable chat with grace and skirted over the questions on air, prompting a mortified Gifford to take to her Twitter.com account to acknowledge the insensitive blunder later that day.
And owning up to her mistake after the show, she took to Twitter.com and wrote, "I send my sincerest apologies to @MartinShort and his family. He handled situation w/ (with) enormous grace and kindness and I'm so grateful."
And the Father of the Bride star has since made peace with Gifford over the incident, insisting he knew she meant no harm.
He tells E! News, "I think that it's live television and people make mistakes and there's no ill will intended."
