Action-hero showdown: Final 4 0
After plenty of celluloid blood was spilled in the opening battles, round 3 of our ultimate action-hero poll continues today with two face-offs that will find ‘80s action giants and one contemporary brawler battling ahead of our finale.
In round 2, Harrison Ford, whose action pedigree includes the Indy films, Star Wars, Blade Runner, Jack Ryan and playing an ass-kicking version of the U.S. president, throttled Vin Diesel with 77% of the vote.
That’s not much of a surprise when you consider that other than the Fast Five movies and Riddick, Diesel’s pretty much got nothing else going on.
After kicking Nicholas Cage into submission in the opening round, Kate Beckinsale thought she could KO Sly Stallone. But the 66-year-old proved he still has some moves, handily beating the Underworld actress with 69% of the vote.
In our other battle of old vs. new, it was the elderly statesman of action who lost by decision. Newby Jason Statham squeaked out the win over Chuck Norris by 1%. Hey Jason, if this was Grade 12, you’d be going to summer school.
The final match pitted the Terminator against John McClane, and Willis ended up dying harder. The Governator battered Bruce with 62% of the vote.
Today, our semi-finals find three ‘80s icons and the new guy battling it to see who will appear in our final: Harrison Ford (Indy Jones and a kick-ass president) vs. Sylvester Stallone (Rocky and Rambo) and Jason Statham (the Transporter and Chev Chelios) vs. Arnold Schwarzenegger (Terminator, Douglas Quaid).
Scroll down to vote in today’s polls and let us know your thoughts on the face-offs in the comments. Voting for the semi-finals ends Friday at 3 p.m.
