Kate Gosselin has hired legal heavyweight Marty Singer to go after Jon Gosselin ... asking a judge to hold him in contempt of court for raiding their joint bank account to the tune of more than US$200,000, reports tmz.com.
Apparently, there is an existing court order prohibiting Jon or Kate from withdrawing any money from the account without the consent of both parties.
Lawyers for Kate will be in Pennsylvania court today to argue that Jon has flagrantly violated that order, that he should be forced to return the money to the account and held in contempt.
Ironically, Jon suggested on Larry King he wanted to save the marriage -- at the same time he emptied the account.
The allegation against Jon caps an intensely bitter week between the couple, during which their TLC series Jon & Kate Plus Eight suspended production. The move followed the network's announcement on Sept. 29 that Jon was being dropped from the show, and him saying he wanted to stop the show because it was damaging his children, says people.com.
Asked by King how much he made from the series last year, Jon replied $1 million before taxes, $500,000 after.
