Keanu Reeves is not the father of Barrie woman's children
Ontario woman to challenge DNA testBy 24 HOURS NEWS SERVICES
BARRIE, Ont. — The lawyer for Keanu Reeves says DNA tests show he is not the father of a Barrie woman's children. Several media outlets were reporting the news Wednesday night, with E! News quoting the Canadian actor's lawyer as saying that 46-year-old Karen Sala is planning to challenge the validity of the DNA testing. The issue was brought to court last May when Sala filed a claim that Reeves is the father of at least one of her four adult children, and wanted the court to order the DNA test to prove it. In a court document filed with the Superior Court of Justice in Barrie, Sala claimed: "I believe the respondent, (Reeves) is the biological father ... The respondent was at the birth of the named children and will confirm that he knew of the children and the possibility that he fathered the children." Sala has admitted she had other sexual relationships at the time she allegedly had sex with Reeves and is not sure if he is the father. Court documents showed she was asking for $150,000 a month in child support retroactive to June 1988, and an order for $3 million a month in spousal support retroactive to November 2006. Reeves' publicist, Cheryl Maisel, has insisted that Reeves does not even know who Sala is. He agreed to the DNA tests on Sept. 1. The two parties were scheduled to be back in family court in Barrie Friday morning. |
