Music lovers had earthquake-ravaged Haiti in their hearts and they responded with their wallets.
The compilation, "Hope For Haiti Now," which features performances culled from a televised U.S. benefit show last Friday, shot straight to the top of the Canadian album charts this week, selling 19,000 copies in its debut.
The album also grabbed the No. 1 spot south of the border, selling an impressive 171,000 copies in the U.S.
Back in Canada, Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream" (10,000) regained two notches to land at No. 2 (thanks to an appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show"), the "2010 Grammy Nominees" (7,000) debuted at No. 3, while Lady Gaga's "The Fame" slipped to No. 4.
Ke$ha's "Animal" dropped three rungs to No. 5, the "MuchDance 2010" collection was locked in at No. 6, and Alicia Keys' "Element of Freedom" moved down from No. 5 to No. 7.
The rest of the top 10 was rounded out by Michael Buble's "Crazy Love" at No. 8, Black Eyed Peas' "The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies)" at No. 9, and Lady Gaga's "The Fame Monster" at No. 10.
In the U.S., Susan Boyle placed second, followed by Lady Gaga in third, Spoon's "Transference" in fourth, and the "2010 Grammy Nominees" in fifth.
