Pop-punk band Marianas Trench top Indies

Vancouver pop-punk band Marianas Trench took home two trophies at The Indies - the awards celebrating independent artists - at a ceremony held Saturday night at Canadian Music Week in Toronto.

The group picked up the Astral Media Radio favourite single and best video for Cross My Heart.

Other winners included Arkells for favourite live group; the Rural Alberta Advantage for Galaxie Rising Stars; Peaches for favourite electronic artist of the year; Great Lake Swimmers for favourite folk group; Constantines for favourite group of the year; F---ed Up for favourite punk-hardcore group of the year; Metric’s Fantasies for favourite album of the year and Joel Plaskett for favourite solo artist of the year.

Neko Case also won for favourite international solo artist and Silversun Pickups for favourite international group of the year.
