Kid Rock is to team up with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for a concert to benefit the cash-strapped classical troupe.
The rapping rocker hopes to raise at least $1 million at the Fox Theater show in May.
The orchestra's music director and conductor Leonard Slatkin has paid tribute to the hometown hero, stating, "What he is doing in general for Detroit is nothing short of amazing. I can think of very few contemporary musicians who believe so wholeheartedly in their city."
