Saturday, 3:30 p.m. - We knew it was coming.
The clouds opened up and rain fell as Sam Roberts left the mainstage, sending music fans scurrying for the protection of the Bacardi B-Live tent, which by the way is nestled right next to our Mojito media paradise.
But it's not all play up here for this writer: Coastal Jazz media rep John Orysik has been in touch with me via email disputing my claim that Pemberton Festival is B.C.'s biggest music festival. Of course, he's surely right, and I know it doesn't even comes close to the Vancouver Jazz Festival. In my defense, it was the organizer's claim, which I should have prepended my claim with. However, it must be said that I am also under the duress of sharp deadlines, and I've inhaled enough second-hand ganja to take down a professional pothead. If that's not enough, there's also been an arguable over-serving of Mojitos during the past 48 hours.
And in the next 24 hours, we could be treated to an encounter featuring the Hell's Angels. There's a rumour that the outfit's 25th anniversary party is heading for Pemberton, which, if true, could make for an interesting Sunday for the legions of on-site R.C.M.P.
But let's not get ahead of ourselves. We've got My Morning Jacket, the Tragically Hip, the Flaming Lips and Tom Petty still to come on the mainstage, with Dave Seaman spinning in the B-Live tent later tonight. Should be fun.
Until then, from possible B.C.'s second biggest festival. Or something.
McRanor out. For now...
