In the cut-throat world of modeling, Erin Jade knows she can't afford to look anything but her smokin' best.
That's why the 21-year-old Torontonian works so hard to keep fit.
"I know that if I don't do it (work out and eat right), there'll be less work," she tells Sun Media.
It's a cruel reality, but cellulite doesn't sell.
Of course, Jade knows what she signed on for and she's up for the challenge.
And yes, it is a challenge -- even for the petite brunette.
Some may look at Jade and figure she's got it made in the shade, what with her youth and favourable genetics.
But the down-to-earth beauty -- a Lilliputian 95 pounds at five-foot-one -- insists that she has to work up a sweat just like anybody else to avoid adding adipose.
So Jade takes one-hour yoga classes three times a week.
"It makes me feel good afterwards," she explains, noting yoga anchors her workout regimen. "I feel so relaxed at the end. I feel healthier. It helps to tone everything."
After her yoga session, Jade fits in some cardio, typically the elliptical machine.
Then she ties a bow on her workout with some strength training.
"I do the little dumbbells and some machines," she says, explaining that she's focused on toning up and not building muscle. "I don't do anything too heavy."
Jade, whose background includes dance and more than a decade of gymnastics, only started pumping iron about a year or so ago.
She admits she was rather intimidated the first time she set foot in the Toronto gym where she now works full-time in the human resources department.
"I was looking at the machines and I was like, 'How do I use this? I don't know how this works? What do I do here?'" she recalls with a chuckle, offering some advice to workout newbies who find themselves in a similar position.
"Remember that everyone is there to achieve the same goal as you are so you shouldn't be intimidated. You may see people who are in shape. Maybe they're just a little bit ahead. But at the end of the day, they're all really trying to achieve the same goal."
Jade took up yoga, and eventually weight training, shortly after giving up gymnastics.
