Keep it neat, store it away in class

By SUN MEDIA

While most new homes come with a fair amount of storage space, the living room can quickly turn into a clutter zone, with electronics, toys, books and DVDs stacked on every available surface.

That's why built-in entertainment centre and storage units are a godsend -- with cabinets, shelves and drawers, all the odds and ends that were once littered about the room can have a place of their own. And more importantly, guests can ooh and aah over the clever and stylish new focal point.

At Ikea, the Besta shelf unit with Inreda drawers is crisp and contemporary with its stark white, flat-panel cabinets, making it an ideal addition to today's more modern, streamlined spaces.

In black, the Besta shelves are more masculine, and are a stylish answer to a library or office.

And speaking of offices, smaller spaces simply don't have the space for a dedicated computer room, making the Inreda pullout a clever place to store one's laptop.

Complementary shelves and file holders offer plenty of room to store your important papers, without having it jumbled up into a mess of bills, files and to-do lists.
