The best green vacations

Most of us are doing every little bit we can to help the environment, right down to our vacation habits. Here are TripAdvisor.com's top 10 eco-friendly accommodations: 1. Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort, Hopkins, Belize "Set on 21 acres of coastal forest, this eco-resort's green practices ensure that nothing goes to waste," says TripAdvisor. 2. Hotel Terra Jackson Hole, Teton Village, Wyoming "Eco-friendly elements abound in the Hotel Terra, literally from floor (environmentally-friendly carpets) to ceiling (recycled roof shingles)." 3. La Cusinga Eco Lodge, Uvita, Costa Rica "While stunning views of the Pacific are reason enough to visit La Cusinga Eco Lodge, its eco-friendly programs and commitment to conservation make it all the more appealing," says TripAdvisor. 4. Morgan's Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge, San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua "It's all about trees at Morgan's Rock, which has planted one and a half million trees for farming to help reduce forest destruction." 5. The Ambrose Hotel, Santa Monica, California This is the first hotel in the U.S. to receive the United States Green Building Council's LEED Silver Certification, says TripAdvisor. 6. Hix Island House, Isla de Vieques, Puerto Rico "Solar panels contribute to heat the water on the property and the shower water also helps water the fruit trees, and other plants." 7. Alaska's Sadie Cove Wilderness Lodge, Homer, Alaska "This eco-lodge built from local and reused materials lets guests get up close and personal with the Alaskan wilderness." 8. Finca Rosa Blanca Coffee Plantation and Inn, Santa Barbara, Costa Rica Along with following energy conservation practices, Finca Rosa Blanca also focuses on raising guest awareness about the local environment." 9. Concordia Eco-Tents, Virgin Islands National Park, St. John The eco-tents are built from environmentally-friendly materials and use solar power to heat water and run appliances. 10.
