Peruvian lodging company Inkaterra's Reserva Amazonica retreat has built what it's calling a canopy tree house, found 30 metres above the rain forest floor and giving a "new sky-high perspective" to the private Amazon reserve it's found in. > Resort reopens

Los Cabos' 237-suite beachfront Marquis Los Cabos Resort, located on the southernmost tip of the Baja California peninsula, has reopened for 'business as usual' following Hurricane Jimena. The resort says "every precaution was made prior to and during Hurricane Jimena" and there has been no damage to the property.

> Countdown to 2010 in Montreal

Montreal will celebrate the ringing in of a new year with a new tradition. The Big AStral Countdown for Mira will be held on McGill College Avenue on Dec. 31. It will include live music and comedy, as well as sound and light performances. Profits will be donated to the Mira Foundation. The Mira Foundation provides more than 180 guide dogs and assistance to persons with mental, visual, hearing and motor disabilities.
