Employees of Delta Hotels and Resorts are revealing what they think are the top hidden gems across Canada.
According to the new Delta Recommends program, Hidden gems in Canada's major cities include:
- Iona Beach Regional Park, Vancouver: "Walk out on to B.C.'s wind-swept Georgia Strait, view the west coast's oceanic birds and watch planes take off and land from Vancouver's International Airport at this unique park in Richmond, B.C., that takes visitors off the beaten track," suggests Delta chef Morgan.
- 100 Wines by David Walker, Calgary: "Enjoy a unique wine-tasting experience with 100 hand-picked selections from wine guy David Walker," suggests Melanie, who works in Delta's food and beverage division. "In this funky yet comfortable atmosphere, guests are able to taste, purchase and even learn the art of making and enjoying wine."
- Gerrard India Bazaar, Toronto: "With more than 100 shops and restaurants which represent regional diversities of South Asian culture, food, music and products, this destination allows visitors to experience the best of the Subcontinent just outside of Toronto's downtown core," recommends maintenance worker Jacob.
- Le Fouvrac, Montreal: "It is a charming fine food store that doubles as a coffee shop, with coffee supplied by the Montreal company Agga -- top coffee experts," suggests administration employee Francois.
- The Chicken Burger Drive-In Restaurant, Halifax: "Opened in 1940, this nostalgic 50s setting is said to be the oldest drive-in restaurant in Canada," says front desk worker Kristy. "Featuring the perfected chicken burger and other high quality and delicious foods, this fun and memorable eating spot is a must see."
