For Canadians, the deal's the thing.
According to a new survey from TD Canada Trust, Canadians are so hungry for travel deals, they'll change their destination or dates of travel just to get the best deal.
Surprisingly, 23%of Canadians said they'd actually cancel their travel plans if they couldn't get the deals they wanted, while 62% book early to score discounts, 55% avoid peak travel season, 54% search for package deals and 35% wait to book at the last minute to capitalize on sell-off vacations.
"Our research suggests that Canadians love to travel but being able to get the deal they want is an extremely important part of their travel planning, to the point where they are willing to be flexible on things like dates, mode of travel and even destinations," says Stacie Pearson, Associate Vice President, TD Canada Trust Credit Cards.
Not only are Canadians flexible with travel, but 67% claim to hoard reward miles, whether through Air Miles or a credit card company, to redeem when ready to travel.
Canadian deal seekers will be happy with Hotwire.com's 2010 travel predictions. The travel site predicts hotel rates will drop further in 2010 as business travel fails to recover and bring money to hotels, that air fares will stay flat, and that price differences between four- and five-star hotels will become smaller.
