A graduate student was beheaded with a kitchen knife in a Virginia Tech campus cafe by another student, police reported yesterday.
Xin Yang, 22, had arrived from Beijing. China on Jan. 8 to study accounting. She was killed Wednesday night.
Her alleged attacker, Haiyang Zhu of China, has been charged with first-degree murder and was being held without bond. No clear motive in the slaying has been determined.
Virginia Tech is also the site of a massacre in which 32 people were shot by a student gunman in 2007.
