Didier Debusschere of the Journal de Quebec captured this great moment just before a skier plunged into an icy pond at a Super Splash spring event at the Stoneham ski centre near Quebec City last Sunday. The event in itself is an photofest of people who go out of their way to fall in the water in funny ways, but even in those situations a photographer still has to pay attention to hit the right moment at the right time. In Didier's photo, the skier made it all the way across the water without falling, but tripped in the snow, which caused a sort of mini tsunami in just a couple of inches of water. It's the silhouette through the splash that makes the photo interesting and different from just another photo of just another person falling in water. He shot the picture with a Nikon D4 in aperture priority, auto white balance, with a 70-210 coupled with a 1.4 converter at f4 . ISO was 200 and exposure compensation was at +1 due to the snow.
