The ol' peck on the cheek likely won't cut it this Valentine's Day.

For those looking to be a master of the sensual lip lock, practice apparently makes perfect.

"Practice with popsicles and ice cream is wonderful when you don't have a partner," said Nanaimo-based sex educator Kim Switnicki.

Moving from frozen treats to a live person can't always be planned, said Harry Judge, managing director of Lyric School of Acting.

Rather, Judge suggests kissing is instinctual and can't easily be taught even to the most skilled actor.

"Most people know it but they don't allow themselves to believe," he said. "Students tune into what they already know within. We want our students to tell the truth on stage and be honest."
