Move over Kelly Ripa! CTV's Tamara Taggart will soon occupy the coveted seat next to Regis Philbin's when she co-hosts the popular U.S. Live! morning show this August.
"I'm super excited," the local weathercaster said. "I have moments when I can't believe this is true."
Taggart won the opportunity to appear with Philbin when CTV nominated her for Live's co-host for a day contest.
Based on a bio and video, Live! viewers voted through the program's website to select their favourite anchor; Taggart was announced as one of the five victorious female hosts on the show yesterday morning.
"It seemed like a long shot," Taggart said.
"It's been amazing. I've had a lot of phone calls and a lot of e-mails."
This will be Taggart's first trip to New York City, but she plans to make sure her hometown isn't forgotten.
"Vancouver will get a lot of mention," she said.
And besides serving as Philbin's sidekick, does Taggart have any other goals to achieve while in the Big Apple?
"I believe they have shopping there," she quipped.
Taggart's episode is to air August 21.
