RCMP have identified the mystery woman in the Ryan Jenkins case, although they won't comment on Internet reports that the woman may be model Paulina Chmielecka. (FROM WEBSITE)

Police have tracked down the woman who checked Ryan Jenkins into a Hope, B.C. motel before he hung himself.

Despite reports on the Internet that the mystery woman is model Paulina Chmielecka, RCMP Sgt. Duncan Pound said he would not identify the woman in public.

“We do not believe she is a risk to public safety,” Pound said. “We do believe that they knew each other, there was a past history, but we don’t want to go into specific details as to the relationship.”

Jenkins had been on the run since reporting his wife, model Jasmine Fiore, missing in California. Her body was found mutilated and stuffed into a suitcase in Buena Park, Cali.. Aug. 15 and a U.S.-wide manhunt was launched for Jenkins.

The 32-year-old reality TV contestant then snuck across the border from Point Roberts, Wash. With the help of a woman, Jenkins checked into the Thunderbird Motel in Hope Aug. 20 and was found hanged in the room Sunday. Much of the media attention then turned towards the mystery woman and her role.

Pound said the woman could only be charged with helping Jenkins into the country illegally – not as an accessory to murder.

“The investigation that would take place here in Canada for the potential to be an accessory after the fact, that would not apply to U.S. charges or the U.S. murder charges that were laid against Mr. Jenkins,” he said, adding possible charges would be fairly “minor.”
