The former UBC student who forced a campus lockdown twice with threatening e-mails in 2007 has written a public apology.
Hwi Lee, 20, was ordered to write a letter to the school's paper, Ubyssey, when he was given a one-year conditional sentence and banned from campus earlier this year.
That letter was published yesterday.
"I am ashamed of my actions; they were wrong and irrational," Lee writes. "I harshly blame myself for all that I caused. I feel so guilty and remorseful that I am not sure how I should apologize. I am deeply sorry."
Lee, who claimed to be under severe pressure to do well in school, was convicted of one count of uttering threats and one count of mischief over $5,000.
"Despite my fault, I loved and still love the UBC," the letter continues. "Several times a day, I recall and miss every trace of my days on campus."
