The gold, silver and bronze medals for the 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics will be unveiled Oct. 15 at the Vancouver Olympic Village.
The manufacture of medals, using metal from mining giant Teck, began in May by the Royal Canadian Mint.
The ceremony will happen at the Civic Centre building at Southeast False Creek.
Late VANOC design director Leo Obstbaum was involved in the top secret look. The medals are expected to feature First Nations motifs.
City of Vancouver is also hosting a Thursday luncheon for ambassadors of 82 countries entering the Games at the Salt Building and Civic Centre.
A formal handover ceremony to VANOC is planned for Nov. 4.
Meanwhile, the city's live site entertainment plan will be revealed at a 10 a.m. news conference this morning at city hall.
