A firebug torching East Vancouver homes after robbing them has police on high alert.
Police say a burglar broke into three ground- and second-floor apartments through unsecured doors or windows after nightfall and set small fires inside each home.
The last incident in the 900 block of East 8th Avenue after midnight on Oct. 3 saw the female victim, asleep at the time of the break in, suffer second-degree burns trying to put out the fire.
No one was home during two other break-an-enter arsons on Sept. 3 in the 2100 block of Pandora Street and Sept. 10 in the 1700 block of East Pender Street.
Investigators have not been able to link the three cases other than their similarity in style and each victim living alone.
No suspect descriptions are available.
