CBC looking for best high school band in B.C.

By MATT KIELTYKA, 24 HOURS

The hunt is on for the best high school band in B.C.

CBC Radio One’s On the Coast program is currently in the midst of a province-wide search for some of the best talent no one has heard of.

“I thought it would be a great idea,” said host Stephen Quinn. “I was in a high school band and so were a lot of people around here. So we wanted to identify the talent in high schools because there is a lot of it.”

The entries so far have been impressive.

“These guys are extremely together,” Quinn said. “We’re so excited about what we’re hearing because the music is so raw.”

Submissions will be accepted until Nov. 6 – with the winning band getting the chance to perform in the CBC studio and work on a demo tape with industry executives.

On The Coast is heard weekdays 3-6 pm on CBC Radio One, 88.1FM and 690 AM.
