VPD bent on finding suspect

By MATT KIELTYKA, 24 HOURS

Vancouver police say finding the suspect of Sunday’s brutal sexual assault is “unbelievably important” for the department.

The VPD have made the case their top priority, after a 24-year-old woman was savagely beaten and sexually assaulted in a park in the 3800 block of Point Grey Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“I can guarantee people in the neighbourhood will be seeing police cars often over the next few days and in the evenings,” said Const. Lindsey Houghton. “This is an unbelievably important case for us to solve.”

Investigators were still combing the area, next to the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, Monday and planned to speak to the victim – who suffered many bruises and contusions to her head.

The suspect is described as a medium-skinned male in his 20s, 5’5" - 5'8" tall, with a medium build.

He was clean-shaven and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, and jeans.

His face was concealed with a handkerchief and he has a British accent.
