The B.C. Sports Hall of Fame's president fears that tangible memories of the 2010 Winter Olympics will go to Alberta after the Games end Feb. 28.
"We're no further ahead after two-and-a-half years in discussions with VANOC and the province in terms of what their plans are for the collection and preservation of artifacts for 2010," said Sue Griffin.
Calgary Olympic Park is home of the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame and Museum, which contains exhibits from the 1988 Winter Games.
Canada's Sports Hall of Fame will become a neighbour in 2011 when it moves from Toronto.
VANOC CEO John Furlong, a 2004 B.C. Sports Hall of Fame inductee, said "the artifacts for the Games will be properly protected and they'll end up in the right place."
"The people of the province and the country will get to appreciate them for a long time to come," Furlong said. "We just haven't decided yet."
Griffin said she has been in early talks with the City of Vancouver, which is developing a collections policy. The provincial sports shrine at B.C. Place Stadium will be open during the Games.
