TransLink have announced that CEO Tom Prendergast has left the company.

A press conference has been scheduled Thursday afternoon to “discuss the departure” of Tom Prendergast.

Early reports suggest he has left TransLink to head up the New York City Transit Authority.

Prendergast came to TransLink in July 2008, boasting a long career in transit management in cities like Chicago, New York and London.

Since then, he has overseen the opening of the Golden Ears Bridge and the Canada Line, but has constantly stressed the need for the cash-strapped transit authority to find new revenue streams and began advocating for federal support almost immediately after being hired.

Last month, TransLink’s mayor’s council approved a 10-year-plan that would see current transit levels maintained but, due to dwindling finances, left no room for expansions like the Evergreen Line.
