It's been several months since the Vancouver Aquarium's newest female beluga was born but, despite a clean bill of health, she doesn't have a name yet.
That's all about the change when as the Aquarium launches their "Name the baby Beluga" contest today online at www.visitvanaqua.org.
Participants have until November 22 to submit a name for the beluga, which should reflect the Arctic original of belugas and honour Inuit culture and language.
The aquarium's other three Belugas - Aurora, Imaq and Qila - already have names celebrating their northern heritage.
After submissions end, the top five short-listed names will be voted on by the aquarium's public members.
The beluga will officially be named Dec. 2, while the person who submitted the winning name will receive a one-of-a-kind beluga encounter, a family membership to the aquarium and a $200 gift card.
