Souvenir plan scuttled

By BOB MACKIN

The B.C. Liquor Distribution Branch withdrew two requests for proposals for Olympic pins and aprons Monday after being contacted by a 24 hours reporter.

Tender notices were issued Nov. 17 seeking 6,000 blue and silver Celebrate Vancouver pins and 2,025 red poly cotton twill aprons with BC Liquor Stores logos. Bids were due Dec. 1. The deadline for the winners to deliver the goods was Jan. 18.

24 hours sought an interview with BCLDB general manager Jay Chambers. Three hours later, a communications manager, who didn't want her name published, said Chambers was unavailable and that the RFPs were "mistakenly published and have been cancelled."
