Holiday shoppers are told to beware of prices too good to be true.
Around $1.5 million in counterfeit goods were seized from a Pitt Meadows store last Wednesday, according to RCMP.
The RCMP Federal Border Integrity Program seized clothes, purses, wallets, and sunglasses that were knock-offs of brands such as Coach, Prada and Chanel from the store in the 12000 block of Pitt Meadows.
The 31-year-old female store owner, and the 56-year-old female store manager have been arrested and charges are pending.
The investigation into the store, which involved monitoring it, began in September of this year.
Several of the goods were shipped from China to the U.S. and then brought into B.C., according to the investigation.
Canadians lose jobs and money from the sale of counterfeit goods, and the legitimate brands are hurt by it, according to the RCMP.
SPOT THE FAKE:
- If it's too good to be true it probably is.
- If it came out of the back of a car it probably isn't real
- Designer bags and accessories that are "made in Taiwan," are not authentic - check where it's made
- When ordering items online search for terms such as "inspired by..."
