John Chow has made a lucrative career by blogging about blogging.

The West Vancouver resident uses the power of his Internet popularity to brand himself as an authority on monetized blogging.

Chow created his personal blog in 2005, mostly writing about whatever interested him, but also how to make money online and how to make money by blogging.

After a while it was brought to Chow's attention that he was talking about making money through blogs, but wasn't making any with his blog.

In 2006, Chow focused his blog around the goal of earning full-time income with part-time blogging.

Within a few months he was making $3,000 a month, and today makes $40,000 a month just blogging.

"I just try to present everything I know, and I give it away free and advertising supports me," said Chow.

Chow's success can be attributed to his ability to stay ahead by paying attention to what's hot online.

"I was there when blogging came in, and I'm at the forefront when Twitter comes in. I always keep my eyes on the hottest trend, what's happening and ways I can capitalize on it," said Chow.

Chow is even capitalizing on Twitter by sending out sponsored tweets.

A company will pay him up to $1,000 just to tweet about a product, and some will even pay him a portion of every sale he refers to them.

Chow's next project is creating an online course on making money through blogs.
