Snow destination awaits

By MATT KIELTYKA

So the world's biggest party is coming to your door but you don't want to part of it.

The local mountains will be flooded with tourists and you can't even get up to Cypress without an Olympic shuttle anyways, so why bother?

Take your shredding to the Interior and experience that epic dry powder the Lower Mainland can only dream of.

"It's a different kind of snow that you don't experience [locally]," said Cameron Mein, president of Destination Snow, which runs weekend getaways to hills like Sun Peaks, Silver Star, Big White and Whistler. "It's a champagne powder. It feels different and people prefer it a bit more."

Destination Snow got off to an early start this year when most of the province hit the winter jackpot in November and Mein says the trend has continued throughout the winter so far.

Their three-day trips - complete with transportation, accommodations and lift tickets - start at $275.
