VSB employees in hot water after allegedly surfing porn at work

By DHARM MAKWANA, 24 HOURS

Vancouver School Board is investigating the conduct of a number of its employees after reports surfaced workers used VSB computers to surf the Internet for pornography.

“This is an internal investigation of a human resources issue,” said VSB spokesperson David Weir. “It is not a criminal investigation. Police are not involved. And, so far, we do not have any information or evidence that suggests the need for police involvement.”

The accused workers have been placed on leave with pay.

Weir, who declined to comment on the nature of the investigation, the number of employees involved or their worksites, was abundantly clear no children were at risk as a result of the incident.

“If we felt that any child was placed at risk or there was criminal wrongdoing we would, as a school district, not hesitate to contact police,” he said.

Vancouver School Board contacted unions representing employees about the investigation.

A B.C. Teachers’ Federation spokesperson said no teachers are being investigated.
