The aging roof of Vancouver's Olympic stadium will make it through the 2010 Games, B.C. Pavilion Corporation's boss says.
Chairman David Podmore claimed the City of Vancouver is "satisfied with the worthiness of the roof."
"We did that well in advance of the Games, as well, we did our own assessment," Podmore said. "That's all resolved."
City hall's chief building official, Will Johnston, could not be reached for comment.
But acting building branch manager Ron Dyck said via e-mail that Johnston "will be further reviewing the files sent to him" by PavCo.
Asked if PavCo would publish an engineering report proving the roof's safety, Podmore replied; "We don't intend to at this time."
Aggreko diesel generators have been delivered to B.C. Place to provide secondary and backup power during the Games, which open Feb. 12.
