A major foodservice and retail contractor at Vancouver International Airport issued 72-hour lockout notice Monday to 300 unionized workers.
UNITE HERE Local 40 said it sought mediated talks Dec. 21, but HMS Host refused. HMS Host operates Milestones, Tim Hortons and Harveys at YVR. The union contract expired last March. HMS Host spokeswoman Susan Goyette said the Bethesda, Md., company "is available immediately to meet as long and as often as necessary" to avoid a lockout.
