The company that powered Molson Canadian Hockey House during the 2010 Winter Olympics is suing the event organizer and Hockey Canada.
Viridian Power Corp. of Vancouver claimed in a July 27 lawsuit filed at B.C. Supreme Court in Chilliwack that it is owed $84,980,93. Viridian claimed Toronto-based Vision Group of Companies has “refused or neglected to pay” a March 15 invoice.
The Viridian Power website said it "provided all the power and heating requirements” for the giant Molson-sponsored, hockey-themed beer hall that stood on Concord Pacific property near Rogers Arena (the former GM Place).
Vision CEO Jordan Bitove was unavailable for comment Wednesday. Hockey Canada chief operating officer Scott Smith told the Globe and Mail in May that “the overall project was not profitable.”
Vision resorted to $99 admission-only tickets because the $500 deluxe food and beer-included day passes were slow sellers. The temporary facility included private hospitality areas for Team Canada players and officials from Hockey Canada and the International Ice Hockey Federation.
