By Michael Mui, 24 Hours Vancouver

The guilty plea hearing of a Coquitlam tow truck driver facing charges following the Vancouver traffic accident death of a two-year-old toddler in 2009 has been deferred to next month.

William Mah, 45, was expected to plea guilty Monday to driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, however, the hearing has reportedly been delayed to put together additional victim impact statements.

Mah declined comment after the hearing Monday, but is expected to reappear at Vancouver provincial court June 8.

He was initially charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm and dangerous driving causing death relating to the Aug. 26 crash near BC Place.

Police said a 32-year-old mother and her daughter were crossing at Abbott Street and Expo Boulevard when a flatbed truck making a right turn crashed into them.

The toddler died on scene while her mother sustained serious injuries.
